Freedom to Read: Join Our New Banned Book Club!

Books have the power to challenge perspectives, spark conversations, and create understanding—but some stories are being silenced. At Little Green Bookstore, we believe in the importance of access to all books, including those that are banned and challenged. That’s why we’re launching our Banned Book Club: a safe space to explore and discuss the books sparking debate across the country.

Our First Meeting:
Book: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Award-Winning Novel: Coretta Scott King Honor, William C. Morris Award, and Printz Honor
Banned or challenged in over 100 school districts for addressing issues like racism and police brutality.
Date: Wednesday, February 12
Time: 6:30 PM
Who’s Invited: All readers, including students ages 14+ (with a parent/guardian)

Let’s dive into The Hate U Give and discuss why it’s been banned—and why its story matters now more than ever. Join us as we celebrate the freedom to read and fight censorship one story at a time.
